This Training Program (Phase 2) commenced under the auspices of the Vocational Training Improvement Project between HWK Chamber of Handwerkskammer Frankfurt – Rhein and Main and the Chamber of Construction Industry of Sri Lanka (CCI). Which commenced on 01st January 2026 and would conclude on 31st December 2028.

The goal of the program is to certify those engaged in construction trades within the industry (but bereft of an qualification) with a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at a minimum Level 3 Certification.

The CCI would certify tradesmen from CCI membership as well as those from the provinces through the aegis of the District/ Divisional/ Administrative Structure. The method adopted would be the Recognition of Prior Learning method (RPL) recognizing the skills of tradesmen who have not had formal Technical College exposure but instead for those who have at the outset joined the industry as uncertified apprentices.

The total number envisaged from the program are 550 Tradesmen from all construction trades for these three years.
