The Chamber Of Construction Industry -
CCI
CCI Sri Lanka was founded by the following professional
Institutes and Associations to be the apex body of the Domestic Construction
Industry.
• Sri Lanka Institute of Architects
• Institute of Valuers
• Association of Consulting Engineers
• Institute of Town Planners
• Institute of quantity Surveyors of Sri Lanka
• Surveyors Institute of Sri Lanka
• Insurance association of Sri Lanka
• The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka
The Chamber is the accredited representative of the industry with
its corporate membership consisting of Architectural/Engineering Consultants,
Construction Contractors, Manufacturers and Suppliers of Construction inputs
including Furniture & Interior Decor and Service Providers.
Its membership from the Public Sector consists of statutory
authorities such as the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Road Development
Authority National Housing Development Authority, Mahaweli Authority etc.. and
parastatal agencies including Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development
Corporation, State Engineering Corporation, Central engineering Bureau etc.
The Core activities of the Chamber are directed to enhance the
capacities and competitiveness of the Construction Industry. In order to achieve
this objective CCI extends Business Development Services to small and medium
scale enterprises undertaken, Training of Craftsmen and Training of industry
personnel to upgrade the Management skills of Industry.
The Chamber publishes two newspapers "CCI Bulletin" in English and
"Nirmana" in Sinhalese, monthly. The news papers disseminate knowledge based
information and promote products, services and technology to its membership. "Nirmana"
is specially designed for the SME sector of the construction Industry. Both the
news papers of 3000 copies each are ejaculated to targeted recipients fire of
charge.
CCI at macro level conducts regular public seminars and interactive
workshops on issues of national importance. Further it endeavors to promote
Foreign Direct Investment in Housing and Infrastructure development. It also
promotes transfer of technology through technical Collaborations. The Chamber
also facilitates transfer of University research to Industry.
